Ways people use scratch cards

Birthday and occasion surprises

Birthday and occasion surprises. Instead of a standard message, the scratch mechanic turns the reveal into something the recipient has to do — which makes it feel more like unwrapping a gift than reading a notification.

Discount codes and promo reveals

Discount codes and promotional reveals for small businesses and creators. Sending a promo code behind a scratch surface makes the offer feel more engaging than posting it publicly. Share the link with subscribers or customers and let them scratch to see their discount.

Giveaways and interactive moments

Giveaway announcements, quiz answer reveals, and interactive moments in presentations. The scratch mechanic works on any screen and any device without any app or plugin — just a link.

Frequently asked questions

How does the digital scratch card work?

Type your secret message, choose a theme, and click "Create Card". You get a shareable link. When your recipient opens it, they scratch the card with their mouse or finger to reveal the hidden message — just like a real scratch card.

Do I need to create an account to use the scratch card maker?

No account or signup is needed. Open the tool, create your card, and share the link — it is completely free.

Can I use the scratch card on mobile?

Yes. The scratch effect works with touch on any smartphone or tablet, so your recipient can scratch with their finger on iOS or Android.

How long does the shareable link last?

The message is encoded directly in the URL, so the link works as long as you keep it. There is no server storing your data — everything is in the link itself.

What can I use the scratch card for?

Scratch cards are great for birthday surprises, reveal announcements (gender reveals, job offers, exam results), gift vouchers, promo codes, or any fun secret message you want to share.

Is the message stored on a server?

No. The message is encoded directly in the shareable link using URL encoding. There is no database, no backend, and no expiry date — the link works as long as you keep it.

How long can the hidden message be?

The message is stored in the URL, so very long messages produce very long URLs. Most browsers handle URLs up to around 2,000 characters, which is enough for a paragraph or two. If the message is significantly longer, the link may be truncated in some messaging apps.

Can the recipient see the message without scratching?

No. The message is hidden under the scratch surface and there is no skip button. The recipient has to scratch to reveal it, which is the whole point.
